SOUTHINGTON — Following a comprehensive nine-month investigation, Ethan Angel Nieves, a 21-year-old Newington resident, was arrested on Monday during a court appearance at New Britain court.

Nieves, residing at 68 Crown Ridge in Newington, is accused of utilizing a stolen grey 2023 Honda Odyssey to perpetrate various crimes across Southington and other Connecticut areas.

The crimes, including catalytic converter thefts, wheel thefts, ATV thefts, and commercial burglaries, date back to early March.

The Southington Police Department, collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, linked the thefts to Nieves, identifying him as a primary suspect and purportedly the orchestrator of the criminal operations.

A search warrant served at Nieves’ New Britain residence on March 12 led to the apprehension of two individuals and the recovery of a stolen vehicle associated with a CarMax burglary in East Haven.

Nieves was later confirmed as the third suspect involved in the incident.

Authorities have charged Nieves with a series of offenses, including first-degree larceny, three counts of third-degree larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal mischief, conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal mischief, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

After posting a court-set bond of $85,000, Nieves was released.

The investigation has led to several arrests, with additional arrests anticipated as the inquiry progresses.
