Middletown police and federal agents seize drugs, weapons in raid

MIDDLETOWN — In a joint operation on April 19, the Middletown Police Department’s Investigative Services Division, Emergency Response Team, and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency executed a search and seizure warrant at 52 North Main Street, dismantling an illicit drug market operation.

The raid concluded a comprehensive investigation into the premises, which was suspected of hosting various “vendors” illegally distributing marijuana products.

Authorities confiscated a substantial sum of US currency, believed to be profits from the unlawful drug transactions, 60 pounds of marijuana, over 1800 cannabis/THC products, MDMA (ecstasy), and psilocybin mushrooms.

The estimated street value of the narcotics and marijuana seized totaled more than $200,000.

Additionally, three weapons were seized during the investigation.

Ten individuals were arrested and face charges for Possession of over one kilogram of cannabis and Illegal sale of cannabis:

– Joaquin Bido, 37, of Hamden
– Christopher Carta, 47, of Cromwell
– Carmelo Castro, 35, of Hartford
– Bryant Cobb, 47, of New Haven
– Brittany Draughn, 35, of New Haven
– David Drury, 45, of Ansonia
– Aaron Eaddy, 42, of Stratford
– Gabriel Kearse, 35, of New Haven
– Luis Torres, 32, of New Britain
– Bobbi Jo White, 52, of Middletown

Furthermore, Joshua Smith, 30, of Bridgeport, was additionally charged with unlawful storage of a firearm.

The police have indicated that more arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.

Following the arrests, all suspects were released on bond and are scheduled to appear in Middlesex Superior Court on May 3.
