Thomaston man arrested on multiple domestic violence charges

THOMASTON — A local man was arrested early Friday morning after police responded to a domestic violence incident where a woman was found bound and injured in a residence on Cables Lane.

Thomaston Police Department received a call at 12:53 a.m. on April 27 about an ongoing domestic violence situation.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a female victim whose hands, legs, mouth, and nose had been restrained with duct tape.

The victim reported that 37-year-old Richard Blood had bound her, physically assaulted her, and sexually assaulted her.

Blood, who was at the scene when police arrived, was taken into custody after officers noted the victim had visible injuries consistent with her allegations.

Blood, a resident of Cables Lane in Thomaston, faces a series of charges including second-degree kidnapping, first-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree sexual assault, second-degree threatening, first-degree strangulation/suffocation, third-degree assault, and second-degree breach of peace.

He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned at Torrington Superior Court on April 29.
