Simsbury police investigate domestic assault resulting in death

SIMSBURY — A domestic assault at a local residence this morning has left one woman dead and her spouse in custody facing murder charges, authorities say.

The Simsbury Police Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:24 a.m. from a resident of 78 Wildwood Road, who reported a physical altercation between two relatives.

Upon arrival, officers found Qiu Rongfang, 49, with life-threatening injuries.

She received immediate medical attention from the officers and later from Simsbury Volunteer Ambulance Association personnel.

Rongfang was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Her spouse, Ding Sheng Lin, 50, was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with murder.

The Hartford State’s Attorney Office, the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Division, the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the Avon Police Department are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Lt. Brad Chase of the Simsbury Police Department stated that this appears to be an isolated incident with no current danger to the public.
