Maine State Police warn against misleading concealed handgun permit ad

1 min read

AUGUSTA — Maine State Police clarified that recent Facebook advertisements suggesting changes to concealed handgun permit laws are misleading and incorrect.

The State Police Weapons and Professional Licensing Unit reported multiple inquiries from residents confused by the ad, which falsely implies that purchasing through the advertisement will grant them a concealed handgun permit due to a change in law.

Authorities emphasized that no such law changes have occurred, and the misleading advertisement contains a small disclaimer that many individuals overlook.

Officials advised residents that the Governor has not signed any new legislation regarding concealed handgun permits.

To avoid any confusion, the Maine State Police Weapons and Professional Licensing Unit urges those with questions about the concealed handgun permit process to visit the official state website or to contact the issuing authority in their area for accurate information.
