BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force apprehended 18-year-old Sean Blackwell on Thursday evening, charging him with firearm-related offenses after officers on patrol spotted him and others congregating on a Roxbury street.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers were patrolling near 32 Forest Street when they noticed a group of individuals and exited their cruiser to engage with them.

Blackwell reportedly turned his body away from the officers, prompting suspicion.

A subsequent pat frisk revealed a weighted object in his jacket, which turned out to be a Taurus firearm equipped with one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine.

Blackwell, a Roxbury resident, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He is scheduled for arraignment at Roxbury District Court.
