Marshfield man arrested for multiple harassing phone calls

MARSHFIELD — Vermont State Police arrested a local man Saturday afternoon for allegedly making a series of violent and tumultuous phone calls.

Anthony Russell, 48, of Marshfield, is accused of disturbing the peace by use of telephone after troopers said they received about 25 calls from him over a two-hour period.

The calls, which began before 2 p.m., were directed to the Vermont State Police and were of a concerning nature, according to authorities.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the incident and made contact with Russell.

He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

Russell has been issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on May 2 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge.

The nature of the calls and the specific allegations against Russell were not immediately disclosed.
