Man attacked with machetes in Putnam, suspects at large

PUTNAM — A man was assaulted with machetes by two individuals on the night of April 5, in a violent encounter that took place at the intersection of Smith St. and Daniels St.

The Putnam Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 9:47 p.m. reporting the attack.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found the victim who had suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries to his ankles.

The victim described his assailants as a white male and a black male, who, after attacking him, robbed him of various items before fleeing in an undetermined direction.

Putnam EMS promptly responded to the emergency and transported the victim to Day Kimball Hospital.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Hartford Hospital for further treatment.

In an effort to locate the suspects, a K-9 team from the Norwich Police Department was dispatched and conducted a track, although no arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation into the machete attack is still active and ongoing.

Authorities have stated that no additional information will be released at the moment.
