Somerset police search former power plant after break-in report

SOMERSET — Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, the Somerset Police Department responded to a report of four males dressed in dark clothing and wearing face masks entering the premises of the former Montaup power plant.

Upon arrival, officers discovered signs of forced entry into a warehouse on the property.

The area was immediately secured, and assistance from the State Police K9 team was requested to help clear the building.

Despite a thorough search by the K9 unit and police officers, the suspects were not located.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather evidence and determine the intentions behind the unauthorized entry.

No injuries were reported, and further details will be released as the investigation progresses.

The Somerset Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward to assist with the case.
