WAITSFIELD — A Massachusetts man faces multiple charges including DUI and gross negligent operation after a series of events led to his arrest in Waitsfield.

Vermont State Police responded to a report of an unruly and intoxicated customer at the China Fun restaurant on Main Street at 7:07 p.m. on March 31.

Upon arrival, troopers identified the individual as 53-year-old Jason McCurry of Milton, Massachusetts, who was observed leaving the restaurant and driving erratically.

McCurry failed to comply when troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, ignoring emergency lights and continuing to drive in a manner that almost caused a collision with oncoming traffic.

For safety reasons, troopers discontinued the chase, and McCurry eventually stopped further south on Vermont Route 100.

After being taken into custody, McCurry displayed signs of impairment and was processed for DUI at the Berlin Barracks.

The incident remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
