ST. JOHNSBURY — A local woman was arrested Thursday night after assaulting two police officers and causing a disturbance at a bar, authorities said.

The St. Johnsbury Police Department responded to a call from The Whiskey Den at approximately 9:15 p.m. where Emily Soskin, 42, was reportedly intoxicated and belligerent.

Soskin allegedly refused to leave the establishment after being asked multiple times and lunged at the bar owner.

Corporal George Johnson and Officer McKendrick Johnson arrived at the scene to confront Soskin.

During their attempt to detain her, Soskin assaulted both officers by kicking one in the groin and the other in the shin.

Soskin, a St. Johnsbury resident, has a history of prior arrests for assaulting law enforcement.

She now faces two counts of assault on law enforcement and one count of disorderly conduct.

Soskin is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.

The police department has urged anyone with additional information to contact them at 802-748-2314.
