Teen escapes injury in late-night crash in Barton

BARTON — Vermont State Police reported to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Maple Hill Rd and May Farm Road on Friday night.

The 18-year-old driver from Orleans, lost control of his 2009 Chrysler PT Cruiser around 9:01 p.m. while traveling southbound on Maple Hill Rd.

The teen was wearing his seatbelt at the time, was navigating below the 50 mph speed limit when his vehicle veered off the road and collided with a telephone pole on the east side.

The clear and dark conditions, alongside dry roads, were noted at the time of the incident.

Although the vehicle sustained significant damage to the driver’s side rear fender and axle, the driver did not report any injuries.

Orleans Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene to assist, and Wrights Towing removed the damaged vehicle.
