NORTH HAVEN — North Haven Police Department officials are alerting the public to an anticipated “street takeover” event expected to unfold in a southwestern Connecticut city this evening around 8:30 p.m.

State, local, and federal agencies are on high alert, actively monitoring and investigating the situation.

These events, characterized by the unsanctioned occupation of public streets by groups of vehicles, have been known to migrate across the state, causing disruptions in multiple locations.

Authorities advise anyone who encounters a street takeover to stop, turn around, and seek an alternate route.

The public is urged not to approach the individuals involved and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report the incident.

The North Haven Police Department is collaborating with local, state, and federal partners to prevent these illegal gatherings.

Additional personnel will be on duty to ensure public safety.

The department is prepared to rigorously pursue any criminal or motor vehicle violations that may arise during the event.

In an effort to identify participants and vehicles engaged in reckless or criminal behavior, North Haven PD will employ mobile license plate readers, dash cameras, and unmarked vehicles.

The community is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
