One dead in early morning Carver crash

CARVER — A 56-year-old woman died Wednesday after her vehicle struck a utility pole on Main Street, according to authorities.

Authorities said the Carver Police, Fire and EMS Departments received a call at 5:38 a.m. about a motor vehicle accident at 240 Main St. Upon arrival, responders found the woman, the vehicle’s only occupant, had collided with the pole.

The Carver woman was quickly transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, where she was later pronounced dead.

The incident led to the closure of a section of Route 58 as the Carver Police, with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS), conducted an investigation.

Traffic has been partially restored, with one lane reopened to motorists.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, and further information will be released as it becomes available.

The Carver Police, Fire and EMS Departments extend their condolences to the family of the deceased and urge drivers to exercise caution while the investigation continues.
