1 min read

NEW BEDFORD — The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a wave of phone scams where callers falsely claim to be representing the law enforcement agency.

Authorities have received an influx of reports from individuals in Bristol County who have been contacted by scammers asserting they are from the BCSO.

Officials emphasize that these calls are fraudulent; the Sheriff’s Office does not call citizens demanding payment or requesting personal information.

Residents are advised to hang up immediately if they suspect they are speaking with a scammer.

The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office is urging the community to share this warning with family and friends, especially those who may not have access to social media, to prevent the spread of this deceptive practice and protect personal information.
