St. Johnsbury man hospitalized after stabbing, three arrested

ST. JOHNSBURY — Three individuals have been arrested following a stabbing incident on Avenue A that left a local man with serious injuries, Vermont State Police reported Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 3:22 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, when Alan Tanguay, 32, of St. Johnsbury, was reportedly attacked and stabbed.

Tanguay was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he remains in stable condition.

Michael John, 29, with no fixed address, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault and robbery in connection with the incident.

Brandi Whittemore, 31, of St. Johnsbury, faces two counts of aiding in the commission of a felony, and Gary Audas, 51, of Lyndonville, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading to the stabbing or the relationship between the accused and the victim.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Vermont State Police urge anyone with information to come forward.
