Police nab armed robbery suspect in East Boston

BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers apprehended a man on charges of armed robbery and assault in East Boston on Tuesday afternoon.

At about 4:14 p.m., officers from District A-7 were called to 293 Border Street following reports of an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect, identified as Lenin Esteban Rios Ramos, 36, of East Boston, allegedly assaulted the victim with a knife, struck them with a rock, and kicked them in the head before robbing approximately $500.

A description of the suspect was broadcasted, and shortly after, officers located a man matching the description behind the building.

Rios Ramos was detained and found in possession of a black folding knife, a medium-sized rock, and a screwdriver during a pat frisk.

He was arrested and charged with armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon to wit shod foot, assault with a dangerous weapon to wit screwdriver, and assault with a dangerous weapon to wit rock.

Rios Ramos is set to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
