Man indicted for drug conspiracy in Orleans County

BURLINGTON –– Marvin Byrd, 29, of Hartford, CT, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for conspiring to distribute controlled substances, including fentanyl, in Orleans County between March and August 2023.

Byrd, who used the alias “TJ,” was arraigned on March 11 and is detained pending further proceedings.

According to the criminal complaint, Byrd conspired with Britny Parris and others to distribute fentanyl, using Parris’s Barton residence to store, prepare, and distribute the drugs.

Byrd coordinated transactions with customers, often using others like Parris to conduct the final distribution. In November 2023, Parris pleaded guilty to maintaining a drug-involved premises and awaits sentencing.

Byrd faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine if convicted.

The case is part of an ongoing collaboration among federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies focusing on drug and gun-trafficking in the Northeast Kingdom.
