St. Johnsbury man arrested on assault, mischief charges

ST. JOHNSBURY — Vermont State Police apprehended a local man wanted on charges of simple assault and unlawful mischief on March 24.

Alexander Sargent, 40, was taken into custody at approximately 5:37 p.m. on Fourth Street after troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks executed an in-state warrant for his arrest.

Sargent was informed of the warrant, which included one count of simple assault and one count of unlawful mischief causing damage of $250 or less.

Sargent complied with law enforcement and was detained without further incident.

He was transported to the Northeast Correctional Complex and held on $100 bail.

Sargent is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on Monday at 8:30 a.m. to face the charges brought against him.
