Coyote spotted in Pelham, residents advised to watch pets

1 min read

PELHAM — A coyote has been sighted frequently in the vicinity of Jeremy Hill Road, prompting a warning from the Pelham Police Department for residents to be vigilant about the safety of their small pets.

The animal, which appears to be in good health, has been roaming the area, raising concerns about potential encounters with domestic animals.

While coyotes are native to the region and generally avoid human contact, they can see small pets as prey.

The police department advises residents not to leave their small pets outdoors unattended.

They also suggest securing garbage cans and removing food sources that may attract the coyote or other wildlife.
