Lyndonville woman cited for retail theft, police seek second suspect

LYNDONVILLE — A local woman has been cited in connection with a retail theft that occurred at the HOPE store, with authorities still seeking a second suspect, the Lyndonville Police Department announced.

Miranda Chaput, 31, of St. Johnsbury, was cited for retail theft following a complaint alleging that two women stole baskets of clothing and shoes from the store located at 136 Church Street.

The incident reportedly took place on Feb. 24, and Chaput was cited on March 18.

She is scheduled to be arraigned in Caledonia Superior Court on April 29 at 8:30 a.m.

According to the police report, the two women were seen leaving the scene of the theft in a silver truck.

The second suspect, identified as Heather Smith, 45, has yet to be located.

The Lyndonville Police are asking the public for assistance in locating Smith to further discuss the incident.

Anyone with information regarding Smith’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Lyndonville Police Department at 802-626-1271.

Officer Gerrish, who is handling the case, is also seeking the public’s help in identifying the two individuals captured in images related to the theft.

The Lyndonville Police Department did not release further details about the theft but continues its investigation into the matter.
