False active shooter alarm prompts response at Cape Cod Technical Regional High School

HARWICH — A false active shooter alarm at Cape Cod Technical Regional High School caused a stir early Monday morning when it was inadvertently activated at around 8:30 a.m.

School Resource Officer John Larivee quickly responded to the alarm and after an initial assessment, found no immediate threat or reason for the alarm.

Officers from Harwich, Brewster, and Chatham Police Departments arrived promptly to assist with securing the scene.

While the students were kept outside, law enforcement conducted a comprehensive walk-through of the school to ensure the safety of all individuals.

Following the thorough inspection and confirmation of safety, students were permitted to re-enter the building.

The cause of the false alarm is currently under investigation by the school administration, as stated by Lieutenant Aram Goshgarian.

The incident, while causing temporary disruption and concern, was resolved without any reported harm to students or staff.
