Somerset death investigation underway after woman found in vehicle

SOMERSET — On the night of March 13, Vermont State Police and the Wilmington Fire Department were dispatched to Somerset Road for a report of an unresponsive woman in a parked vehicle accompanied by a strong chemical odor.

Upon arrival at approximately 9:53 p.m., emergency responders secured the scene and closed off the vicinity for safety precautions, prompting a response from the Vermont Hazmat team.

The vehicle and surrounding area were later declared secure.

The woman inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was identified as 41-year-old Alexandra Andrade from Stamford, Connecticut.

Detectives from the Vermont State Police arrived to investigate the death.

Andrade’s body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to ascertain the cause and manner of her death.

According to authorities, the death is not being treated as suspicious and there is no perceived threat to public safety.

Mitigation efforts concerning the chemical hazard concluded on the afternoon of March 14.

As the investigation continues, no additional details have been released.
