Fair Haven edges Falcons in D2 State Championship

NEWPORT — In a closely contested D2 State Championship game in Barre on Saturday, the NCUHS girls basketball team suffered a narrow defeat, falling 55-50 to Fair Haven.

The Falcons, showcasing a commendable team effort, concluded their season with an impressive 21-3 record.

Sabine Brueck led Newport’s scoring efforts with 14 points, followed by Maya Auger with 10 points. Josi Fortin contributed 9 points, and Aaliyah Wilburn added 7 points in the hard-fought game.

Despite their valiant efforts, the Falcons were unable to overcome Fair Haven’s strong performance.

The game was marked by intense competition, highlighting the talent and determination of both teams. As the Falcons reflect on their season, their remarkable record stands as a testament to their skill and teamwork throughout the season.
