Man cited for burglary, unlawful mischief in Irasburg

IRASBURG — The Orleans County Sheriff’s Department has cited a Saint Johnsbury man for burglary and unlawful mischief following an incident at a Lake Region Road residence.

According to Sheriff Jennifer Harlow, deputies received a call from an Irasburg resident at approximately 2:51 p.m. on Dec. 28, reporting a burglary at their home. Deputy Jeremy Cotnoir arrived on the scene and spoke with the complainant.

Through further investigation, it was determined that Joel Gouin, 38, had been dropped off at the residence on the evening of Dec. 27 and committed the burglary.

On Jan. 14, Gouin was issued a citation to appear in Orleans Superior Court: Criminal Division on April 2 at 8:00 a.m. for the aforementioned charges.

Gouin is currently lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility on unrelated charges.
