NEWPORT — Newport’s #1 ranked girls basketball team secured a spot in the Division 2 semifinals with a hard-fought 48-40 victory over #8 Enosburg on Friday night.
Sabine Brueck led the team with 15 points, while Aaliyah Wilburn contributed 12 points to the win.
Maya Auger also played a crucial role, scoring 10 points and demonstrating exceptional skill at the free-throw line by going 5 for 6 in the fourth quarter, a performance that helped seal the victory for NCUHS.
The win sets up a semifinal matchup against #4 ranked Harwood, which will take place in Barre on Monday, at 8:15 p.m.
