ST. JOHNSBURY — A single-vehicle crash on Hospital Dr, near Kids of the Kingdom Childcare, left the area without power after a 2016 Ford F150 struck a power pole at about 1:19 p.m. on Feb. 29.

The driver, Midge Lubot, 76, of St. Johnsbury, was wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred, leading to significant damage to the vehicle’s front end and resulting in it being totaled.

Lubot sustained minor injuries and was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) by CALEX Ambulance.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks, along with the St. Johnsbury Fire Department and CALEX Ambulance, responded to the scene.

Green Mountain Power was dispatched to replace the broken pole, and Lyndonville Towing removed the truck.

The childcare center and surrounding residences experienced a loss of power due to the accident.

The St. Johnsbury Fire Department also dealt with an unrelated issue involving a Rinnai propane heater at the childcare center.

The heater problem is not believed to be caused by the crash, which remains under investigation.
