Two hospitalized after head-on collision in Georgia

GEORGIA — A head-on crash on Oakland Station Rd. left both drivers with injuries on Feb. 27 at 12:06 p.m.

Vermont State Police along with local Fire and EMS units responded to the incident near the intersection of Oakland Station Rd. and Carpenter Hill Rd.

Investigations revealed that Julie Sweeney, 56, of St. Albans, was driving southbound when her car drifted across the centerline into the opposing traffic lane.

Joanne Pinsonneault, 68, of Fairfax, was driving northbound and attempted to evade Sweeney’s 2009 Hyundai Sonata but was unable to prevent the collision with her 2014 Ford Escape.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.

Sweeney and Pinsonneault, who were wearing seatbelts, sustained several and minor injuries, respectively.

They were transported to Northwestern Medical Center for further treatment.

Authorities reported clear weather and dry road conditions at the time of the accident.

The Vermont State Police – St. Albans Barracks is conducting a further investigation into the cause of the crash.
