Bakersfield woman cited for cashing stolen checks in Richford

RICHFORD — Troopers from the St. Albans barracks responded to a report of stolen checks on Feb. 5 at around 12:08 p.m. and subsequently cited a Bakersfield woman for false pretenses.

Investigations revealed that Olivia Ovitt, 27, cashed two checks from accounts to which she had no legal rights.

Authorities issued Ovitt a citation which pertains to False Pretenses, without incident.

The incident highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat financial fraud and theft in the region.

Further details about the case have not been released, pending the legal process.

Ovitt is expected to appear in court to answer to the charges.
