ST. JOHNSBURY — A hit-and-run accident on Interstate 91 left an 82-year-old woman with minor injuries after her car rolled over this afternoon.

Bettylou Sherry of Danville was traveling southbound in her 2023 Subaru Outback when an unidentified vehicle, possibly an older model silver or white sedan, merged into her lane and struck her car on the rear driver’s side.

The collision caused Sherry’s vehicle to veer off the road and overturn onto its roof.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident did not stop and was last seen continuing south on I-91.

The make, model, and year of the offending vehicle, as well as information about its operator, remain unknown at this time.

State Police and emergency services responded to the scene shortly after the crash, which occurred under clear skies and on dry roads.

Sherry was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the incident, which may have prevented more serious injuries.

She was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) for treatment of her injuries.

The Vermont State Police are actively investigating the crash and are seeking the public’s assistance.

Witnesses or anyone with information related to the incident are encouraged to contact the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111.
