1 min read

HINGHAM — An overnight burglary at Lunette Optic located in the Derby Street Shoppes is currently under police investigation after officers responded to an alarm activation early Thursday morning.

On Feb. 1 at approximately 12:50 a.m., Hingham Police officers were dispatched to 92 Derby St. following reports of a burglar alarm at the eyewear store.

Upon arrival, they discovered one of the front doors had been smashed and found a pry bar on the sidewalk and a large rock on the store’s interior floor.

The intruders forcibly opened several display cases and made off with an undetermined number of glasses.

Preliminary findings suggest the suspect or suspects initially attempted to pry open the front door before resorting to breaking the glass with a rock to gain entry.

The Hingham Police Department is actively investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Scott Tracey can be reached at 781-741-1443.
