NEWPORT –– Kevin Guckin, 60, from Island Pond, was recently sentenced to a term ranging from nine months to ten years in prison. He pled guilty to felony DUI-4, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, and three counts of reckless endangerment.

In exchange, charges for providing false information to law enforcement and reckless or grossly negligent driving were dropped.

The incident, occurring back in 2021, involved Guckin in a two-vehicle head-on collision on Route 105 in Charleston, resulting in one of the vehicles catching fire.

Despite losing an entire wheel assembly, he managed to drive his truck from the crash scene.

State police later found Guckin’s heavily damaged Chevrolet Silverado at his residence.
