BRAINTREE — Police are investigating a shooting incident at a local apartment complex after residents reported gunfire Sunday night.

Around 11 p.m., neighbors described hearing what sounded like gunshots emanating from a vehicle in the parking lot of the complex on 800 West St.

One resident recounted diving to the floor of her second-story apartment, which overlooks the scene, for fear of being caught in the crossfire.

The Braintree Police Department confirmed that officers arrived at the scene and found ballistics evidence in the parking lot.

Despite the evidence of shots being fired, authorities reported no victims and no injuries from the incident.

A Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation member was also present, conducting evidence photography and collection, including several spent shell casings.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

This incident marks the second time this weekend that police have responded to disturbances in the same area of the apartment complex.

On Friday night, a considerable police presence, including a K9 officer, responded to a separate disturbance, with officers focusing on a first-floor apartment window and conducting an interior investigation.

Police have not indicated whether the two incidents are connected.
