Two injured, dog hurt in Colrain head-on crash

1 min read

COLRAIN — A head-on collision on Greenfield Road Wednesday morning left two drivers and a dog injured.

The accident occurred when a pickup truck descending the slope toward the center of Colrain around 9 a.m. lost control, sliding across the center line and colliding with a small hybrid vehicle, Fire Chief Nicholas Anzuoni reported.

Both vehicles had Vermont license plates.

Emergency crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free the hybrid’s driver.

The drivers were taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield for treatment, Anzuoni confirmed.

A dog in one of the vehicles also suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Anzuoni suggested that the road conditions were “slick — not too bad, but just slick enough” and speculated that speed might have contributed to the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were members of the Colrain Fire Department, Shelburne Fire Department, Colrain Ambulance, Colrain Police Department, Greenfield Fire Department, and Massachusetts State Police.
