Newport Center man arrested for DUI #3 after crashing into tree

NEWPORT — A single-vehicle crash on Leadville Road led to the arrest of a local man on suspicion of his third DUI offense.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident Monday evening at approximately 8:16 p.m. Daniel Belisle, 59, of Newport Center, reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree off the roadway.

Upon arrival, troopers noted Belisle exhibited several signs of impairment.

Following an on-site investigation, he was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence.

Belisle was transported to the Derby Barracks for further processing, and detained on $200 bail.

A court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
