HINGHAM — A 17-year-old girl was injured Wednesday night after being ejected from her vehicle during a rollover crash on George Washington Blvd.

At around 8:21 p.m. on Dec. 27, Hingham Police officers responded to the incident in front of the Hingham District Courthouse.

They discovered a 2010 Hyundai Sonata on its roof with the driver lying on the road, according to a statement by Lt.

Steven Dearth, Public Information Officer for the Hingham Police Department.

The investigation revealed that the Hyundai was heading north at an excessive speed when it veered over the center line into the opposing traffic lanes.

After crossing the southbound lanes, the car swerved over the sidewalk and off the road, colliding with a large rock and trees before rolling over and coming to rest in the southbound lanes.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle and had not been wearing her seatbelt, was transported to South Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers issued the driver a citation for negligent operation, marked lanes violation, speeding, and a seat belt violation.
