Brookline man arrested for burglary and assault in Jamaica

JAMAICA — Vermont State Police arrested a Brookline man Tuesday evening for aggravated assault and burglary after he allegedly broke into a Jamaica home and threatened a resident.

Authorities were called to a residence on Mowrey Road at 5:38 p.m. where they discovered William Staats, 39, had illegally entered the home, causing damage and instilling fear of serious bodily harm in an occupant.

Staats was taken into custody and transported to Westminster State Police Barracks.

He was released with a citation to appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
