Woman arrested for DUI after crash on I-89 in Williston

WILLISTON — A St. Albans woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI after her vehicle was totaled in a crash on I-89 Northbound, near the Williston rest area on Dec. 26.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident at approximately 4:29 p.m. under cloudy skies, with dry road conditions reported.

The driver, identified as Mikaila Rheaume, 35, was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.

Upon arrival, troopers in collaboration with the Williston Fire Department made contact with Rheaume.

During the interaction, signs of impairment were observed.

Rheaume was taken into custody and transported to the Williston Police Department for processing.

There were no injuries reported, and no hospitalization was necessary for Rheaume, whose 2024 Toyota Highlander was declared a total loss due to the crash.

Following processing, Rheaume was released with a citation to appear at the Chittenden County Superior Court on Jan. 11 at 8:15 a.m.
