Two cited for theft, hit-and-run in Lyndonville

LYNDONVILLE — A man and a woman were cited for separate offenses after an incident at the Town Corner store on Broad Street, police said.

According to the Lyndonville Police Department, on Dec. 20 at approximately 4:42 p.m., a complaint was received about a man, later identified as Leonard Garcia, 30, of Barnet, stealing an item and fleeing the store.

Garcia reportedly entered the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Brittney MacDougall, 30, of St. Johnsbury.

Witnesses stated that MacDougall reversed the vehicle and collided with an object on the exterior of the store before leaving the scene.

Following the investigation, Garcia was cited for retail theft, and MacDougall was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and negligent operation.

MacDougall also received two Vermont Civil Violation Complaints, which carry waiver fines totaling $497.

Both Garcia and MacDougall are scheduled to be arraigned at the Caledonia Superior Court on Feb. 12 at 8:30 a.m.
