MILFORD — Milford Police Detectives are currently investigating two overdoses that have occurred within the local Brazilian community, which may prove to be fatal.

These incidents are believed to be caused by cocaine laced with benzodiazepines and fentanyl, a mixture known to be highly dangerous and potentially lethal.

The Drug Enforcement Administration reported that in the previous year, over 50.6 million fentanyl-laced counterfeit prescription pills and more than 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder were confiscated.

This amount translates to over 379 million doses that could be fatal.

The Milford Police Department is reaching out to the community, offering support and resources to anyone affected by substance abuse.

The Milford Police Family Services Unit can be contacted at 508-488-9456, and the Milford Police Detectives at 508-473-1113.
