Tractor-trailer collision on I-93 in Lincoln causes injury, oil spill

LINCOLN — A collision between two tractor-trailer trucks on Interstate 93 North led to one operator being injured and a significant oil spill on Dec. 8.

Lincoln Fire was dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m. after reports of the crash.

Upon arrival, first responders faced heavy traffic and large amounts of debris strewn across the highway.

Emergency crews transported one of the truck operators to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The condition of the injured person has not been disclosed.

The incident also caused a considerable oil spill from one of the vehicles.

Firefighters and hazardous material teams worked to contain the spill, preventing further environmental damage.

The cleanup efforts and investigation into the cause of the crash resulted in prolonged traffic delays.

Crews remained onsite for over eight hours, clearing the scene just before 10 p.m. and allowing traffic to resume its normal flow.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the collision or the parties involved.
