WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department has warned residents of reports involving a man and a woman going door-to-door, falsely claiming to represent the Sewer Department, ADT Security Services, or the local electric company in an apparent attempt to gain access to homes in the Burncoat area.

Local authorities have issued a caution to residents advising them to be vigilant and to contact 911 immediately if they suspect someone is attempting to enter their homes under fraudulent pretenses.

As the investigation continues, the police are urging the community to verify the identity of any service personnel before allowing entry into their homes.

Residents are reminded to ask for official identification and to look for marked vehicles that are typically used by utility companies.

The police also recommend that individuals contact the company directly if there are any doubts regarding the legitimacy of the workers’ claims.

The Worcester Police Department is actively seeking any information regarding the suspects and encourages anyone with knowledge of these incidents to come forward to assist in preventing further potential intrusions and ensuring the safety of the community.
