CHICOPEE — A physical altercation at Chicopee High School during dismissal today led to police intervention amid allegations of a firearm near the school, according to school officials.

The incident occurred just outside the school building, and the school’s resource officer was quick to respond to the situation.

After hearing claims of a firearm in the area, the officer called in the Chicopee Police Department to investigate.

Authorities arrived promptly to secure the scene.

As a result of the incident, all after-school activities at both Chicopee High School and Dupont Middle School have been canceled for the day.
