Barnet man faces DUI and violation charges after traffic stop

BARNET — A local man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and violating release conditions following a traffic stop on Interstate 91 North, Vermont State Police reported.

Nathan Lounsbury, 33, was pulled over by troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks around 7:47 p.m. on Nov. 16 after he allegedly committed several traffic violations.

Upon interaction with Lounsbury, troopers observed signs of impairment and conducted standardized field sobriety tests.

After the tests, Lounsbury was taken into custody and transported to the Derby Barracks for processing.

The investigation revealed he had previously been ordered by the court not to operate a vehicle after consuming alcohol or drugs.

Lounsbury, a Barnet resident, was subsequently issued a citation to appear in Caledonia County Criminal Court to respond to the charges of DUI – Drug and Violation of Conditions of Release.
