Salem police seek identity of poorly disguised thief

1 min read

SALEM — Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman suspected of stealing a $500 throw blanket from Homesense on Oct. 13 at 6:42 p.m., wearing what authorities described as a less-than-effective disguise.

The suspect attempted to conceal her identity with a trench coat, glasses, and a hat during the alleged theft.

However, her disguise came into question when she later entered Market Basket, a neighboring store, without the accessories, appearing noticeably different.

Investigators are keen to uncover the identity of this so-called cloaked culprit, who was also noted to be wearing a walking boot at the time of the incident.

The Salem Police Department has acknowledged the limitations of not having a facial recognition database but remains optimistic that community members will provide critical assistance.

Detective O’Donnell is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information regarding the theft or the suspect’s identity to come forward.

Witnesses or those with knowledge of the case are encouraged to contact Det. O’Donnell at jo’[email protected] or call 603-890-2381.
