SPRINGFIELD — A loaded firearm and cocaine were seized, and two suspects arrested, after Springfield police officers intercepted a vehicle with occupants attempting to evade law enforcement early Sunday morning on Osgood Street.

At around 2 a.m., members of the Springfield Police C3 Units, led by Lt. Julio Toledo, and officers from Squad “A” responded to reports of drug activity and alcohol consumption behind a building with posted “No Trespassing” signs.

The North End C3 Unit had received multiple complaints regarding such activities.

Upon arrival, C3 officers spotted a running vehicle with two individuals drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana.

The driver, identified as Jahshocka Morgan, attempted to flee the scene upon noticing police presence, leading officers on a pursuit including an attempt to reverse down a one-way street.

After successfully stopping the vehicle, officers found the passenger, Jahdiel Morgan, in possession of a loaded firearm tucked in his waistband and approximately 15 grams of cocaine in his pocket.

A search of the car yielded additional ammunition, and the firearm was identified as stolen from Springfield.

Jahdiel Morgan, 27, faces multiple charges including carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession with the intent to distribute a Class B drug.

Jahshocka Morgan, 23, has been charged with refusing to stop for police, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and other related offenses.

Both suspects are Springfield residents.

The incident underscores ongoing efforts by Springfield police to address community concerns about illegal activities in the North End area.

The suspects were booked and await further legal proceedings.
