NEW HAVEN — A 27-year-old Brandon woman was cited for negligent operation after being caught speeding and passing in a no-passing zone on US Route 7, Vermont State Police said.

Heather Selleck was stopped by troopers conducting speed enforcement at 5:43 p.m. Monday near the intersection of US Route 7 and Dog Team Road.

According to authorities, Selleck was observed driving her sedan north on US Route 7 at speeds exceeding the limit and passing multiple vehicles on the left in a two-lane section of the road.

Troopers said Selleck continued to overtake other vehicles unsafely as the passing lane merged into one, forcing other motorists to leave their lane to avoid a potential crash.

Selleck was issued a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court on a date yet to be determined.

She also received a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint under Title 23 VSA 1081(b) for traveling 70 mph in a 50 mph zone, which carries a penalty of 2 points and a waiver fee of $185 upon conviction.
