St. George man, 74, faces cocaine possession, driving offense charges

NEW HAVEN — A traffic stop on US Route 7 led to the arrest of a 74-year-old St. George man on charges of cocaine possession and driving with a criminally suspended license.

Vermont State Police stopped Clyde S. Bovat around 12:02 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Vermont Route 17 after noting a motor vehicle violation.

During the stop, troopers detected signs of drug activity and conducted a search, finding evidence on Bovat and within the vehicle.

Further inquiry confirmed that Bovat’s license was criminally suspended.

He was taken to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing and subsequently released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.
