EAST LONGMEADOW — Residents of East Longmeadow are being urged to exercise caution when walking near Birchland Park Middle School and Mapleshade Elementary School after a local was chased by two coyotes.

The East Longmeadow Police Department issued a warning following a report earlier tonight that a citizen, while walking his dog, was pursued by the animals and forced to retreat to his home for safety.

Authorities are reminding the public to stay vigilant and be aware of wildlife in the area.

The police are monitoring the situation and may provide further updates as necessary.

Residents are advised to avoid walking alone at dusk or dawn when coyotes are most active, to keep pets on a leash, and to report any coyote sightings to the East Longmeadow Police Department immediately.
