Newborn infant remains found in Rochester recycling facility

ROCHESTER — Massachusetts State Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a newborn infant’s remains at a local recycling center, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz announced Wednesday.

The gruesome find was made after Rochester Police received a distressing 911 call around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday from employees at Zero Waste Solutions recycling facility.

The workers reported uncovering the remains amid a load of trash that had been transported to the center for processing.

State Police detectives attached to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office were promptly notified and began an investigation in collaboration with local authorities.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has taken control of the case and will perform an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.

As the investigation proceeds, officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that might be pertinent to the case.
